The MBKU Gala was established in 2012. Since its inception, Gala fundraising has supported a variety of programs including the Shared Visions Art Exhibit, clinical care equipment and technology needs, student scholarships and underserved clinical care.
Over time, as MBKU has grown, the Gala’s focus shifted. Today, the Gala Celebration is the signature fundraising and recognition event for Marshall B. Ketchum University benefitting the Southern California College of Optometry, School of Physician Assistant Studies, College of Pharmacy and the University Eye Centers at Ketchum Health (Anaheim and Los Angeles). It is also where we recognize and honor recipients of The V Award and our Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Young Alumni recipients.

In 2023, the MBKU Gala was renamed, The Bidwell, in recognition to the "B" in Marshall B. Ketchum University. The Bidwell was reimagined as a benefit uniting the past, present, and future of MBKU.
