Dr. Engelke is a 2005 graduate of the Southern College of Optometry and completed her residency training in Primary Care/Low Vision Rehabilitation at the Southern Arizona Veterans Affairs Healthcare System (SAVAHCS) in Tucson in 2006. After which, she joined SAVAHCS as an attending staff optometrist. She has been on the SCCO faculty since 2007 and was promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor in 2009. Dr. Engelke serves as the VA representative to the University of Arizona Institutional Review Board and is also a voting member of the SAVAHCS Research and Development Committee. She is active in optometric education as a reviewer for the Council on Optometric Practitioner Education and a consultant to the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education. She is a previous examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and a past lecturer at the American Academy of Optometry. Recently Dr. Engelke founded and administers the Traumatic Brain Injury Eye Service at SAVAHCS. She possesses broad clinical privileges that include therapeutic prescriptive authority and practices full-scope primary care optometry.
