We love connecting with prospective students and have a variety of ways to do so in person and virtually. Group events and presentations offer a great opportunity for prospective students at all levels of interest to explore the optometry profession, SCCO's program, MBKU's campus, student life, and more. Save the Date: SCCO's Optometry Open House

Saturday, April 1, 2023 | 8:30 am-2 pm | RSVP will be available soon

Join us in person or virtually for our annual Optometry Open House to learn more about the profession and our program! We’ll provide an overview of the profession and highlight the various subspecialties within optometry, Student Ambassadors will share about their schedules and life as grad school students, and Admissions Officers will cover the admissions timeline and tips for being a competitive applicant. Guests will also have the opportunity to mingle with faculty, alumni, admissions officers, and Student Ambassadors during a self-guided campus tour with hands-on labs and more! You’re welcome to attend solo, with a pre-optometry club, or bring loved ones!

Join us one Friday a month to tour the MBKU main campus. Check out the lecture halls, labs, Student Union, and more with a Student Ambassador, then wrap up your visit with Admissions officers providing an application process overview and Q&A. Looking for a presentation for your pre-optometry or pre-health club to join to learn more about SCCO? You're in the right place! We're keeping these virtual sessions "PowerPoint lite" as Admissions Officers and Student Ambassadors co-host the events to share stories and real-life examples and even provide virtual tours as we broadcast live from campus. Whether you're coordinating a watch party or viewing solo, we look forward to giving you a glimpse into your future as an optometry student at MBKU!

Specialty Spotlight Series - Save the Dates!

Join 4th year student, Maeve McDonnell and 6 different faculty members for our Specialty Spotlight Series. They'll take you inside the University Eye Center at Ketchum Health for an in-depth look at the six specialties listed below to share about typical patient demographics, demonstrate equipment and technology utilized, as well as provide an overview of what a “day in the life” of an Optometrist who practices in this specialty might look like. SCCO's Optometry Admissions Workshop (2022)

This event, hosted in person and virtually on July 23, 2022, was specifically designed for those preparing to enter optometry school in the next 1-2 years. Get tips and timeline advice from admissions officers, take notes while faculty members share what they look for during the interview, observe a slit lamp demo and Vision Therapy presentation taught by a faculty member and the Dean, and hear career options and engaging stories from an Alumni Panel.
