Dr. Melissa Tawa received her B.S. In Biology from the University of California Los Angeles and her Doctor of Optometry degree from University of California Berkeley. She then completed a residency in Primary Care and Ocular Disease at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She worked in ophthalmology and optometry private practices before her current role as Assistant Professor at MBKU in the Primary Care and Ocular Disease departments. She holds teaching responsibilities in lectures, clinical care, and laboratories. Special interests include optometric education, glaucoma, posterior segment disease, and advanced procedures.
Dr. Tawa has lectured on ocular diseases at local, state, and national meetings. She holds board and committee positions in various optometric societies, including the American Academy of Optometry, California Optometric Association, Orange County Optometric Society, and Asian American Optometric Society.
