Today is #WorldSiteDay which focuses on the global issue of eye health. The prevalence of vision impairment in many low- and middle-income regions is estimated to be four times higher than in high-income regions. With such vast inequities existing in the distribution of vision impairment, the burden tends to be greater in rural areas and for older people, women, people with disabilities, ethnic minorities and indigenous populations. One way our student optometrists provide #hopeinsight is with medical mission trips. In this #tbt second-year OD student @kristytheod remarked how amazing it was to serve the residents of Tecate, Mexico on her first clinic trip with @SVOSHSCCO and apply what she learned in class into practice!
