Good day to all of the incoming class of 2028.
While many of you have lived in Southern California your entire lives, a few of us are new to the area. As a vegan it’s not always easy to find a good place to eat. This post is not exclusively for vegans. The places that I am recommending can be enjoyed by all. As graduate students’ money can be tight. My classmates are big consumers of Chic-fil-A and Chipotle. The food is good but sometimes you want to delight and excite your taste buds. This post is for when you want a culinary experience. This is by no means a comprehensive list of restaurants. Hopefully, I can add to it as the year progresses. Bon Appetit!
- Huntington Ramen & Sushi - 1325 E Chapman Ave, Fullerton, CA
A Japanese restaurant that also serves vegan dishes. The food and the staff are great. My classmate said the vegan sushi was great but the ramen was even better.
- Taal Cultural Cuisine of India - 975 E Birch St, Brea, CA
All you can eat Indian buffet. The samosas were the best I’ve had since I moved here.
- Dolan’s Uyghur Cuisine - 742 W Valley Blvd, Alhambra, CA & 18920 Gale Ave, Rowland Heights, CA
The Uyghur’s are an ethnic minority in Western China. The food is a blend of Chinese and Middle Eastern Cuisine. There are lots of vegetarian options. The hand pulled noodles are delightful.
- Sura Korean BBQ & Tofu House Restaurant - 621 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach, CA
I love Korean food! Sura has delicious food for all taste buds. The Jap Chae is a great dish for those new to Korean food and cannot handle lots of spice
- Sushi Vegan - 2400 Main St, Santa Monica, CA
Sushi vegan was the best sushi I have ever had. It’s located in a small store front close to the beach. On a day off enjoy the beach and some really great sushi.
