How amazing is it that these MBKU students helped vaccinate against COVID-19! Over the weekend, PA and COP students worked together at Soka University to help vaccinate over 2,000 individuals. The event was supervised by COP faculty Dr. Vo, Dr. Mingura, Dr. Yamzon, and several community Physician Assistants.
Way to go SCCO for having the largest number of new Student Fellows in the American Academy of Optometry in 2020! To achieve this, students took time outside of their studies to attend @aaopt events and lectures including over 12 hours of programming, along with CE, poster and paper sessions, residency and graduate program fair, and the exhibit hall over about a two-week period. Although 2020 limited many activities, we’re grateful that students were able to capitalize on the accessibility of Academy events.
Back on campus and learning some skills! ?Learning how to conduct the pulmonary, cardiology and gastroenterology portions of the physical exam ??For their module exam, they will be given a case and will go through an entire history, physical and then present their case along with their diagnosis, differentials and their treatment plan!

Congratulations to Dorith Anda from the College of Pharmacy Class of 2021 on being a recipient of the Student of the Year Scholarship Award from the South Bay/Long Beach Society of Health-System Pharmacists! Dorith noted that this award is also a reflection of the support and motivation from his friends and MBKU-CSHP, his President Jennifer Nguyen and board members, Ms. Cynthia Bennett, and the South Bay/Long Beach Society of Health-System Pharmacists, “This award is nothing without everyone.”
How can we help usher a safe return to campus for everyone in next few weeks? Swipe for the details! ? ? We love seeing what our alumni are up to, check out PA Victoria Callahan in action – "Congratulations to Victoria on her 1 year with our Neurosurgery team! Over the course of this past year, since graduating from PA school, you have grown and learned with positivity as a Neurosurgery PA. From clinic, to the OR, and beyond you have been awesome! It has been nothing short of a pleasure having you as a part of this team. Keep rockin! ?"
